Botox Injection in Laval

Botox®, Xeomin®, Dysport® and Nuceiva® for Facial Rejuvenation

botox injection

Over the years, the Clinique Esthétique MD, medical aesthetic clinic in Laval, our team has acquired extensive training in clinical dermatology in Canada and plastic surgery in Europe, enabling us to understand the aging process.

In fact, rejuvenation can be achieved by working on the subcutaneous tissue, which is weakened by age and the effects of environmental problems, through the reduction of collagen and hyaluronic acid.

But also by reducing the contraction of facial muscles.

All without surgery or scarring.

The overall expression of the face is the image you project. The attenuation of certain muscles by an expert hand can modulate the image and expression of your face.

Botox® Injection Treatments

The area treated by Botox® and the changes in facial expression are based on the basic expressions described by American psychologist D. Eckman in 1982, including anger, fear, surprise, disgust, joy and sadness. Injection into different areas of the face enables these expressions to be modulated, while respecting the essential rules: preserving the natural expressiveness of the face and avoiding the fixed transformations often observed.

Forehead treatment

Do those around you notice you look stern or overly surprised? Do your eyebrows droop? Try a non-surgical correction: a few injections of the muscle relaxant Botox® into the glabella muscles or the forehead muscle. Say goodbye to that stern look that doesn't suit you.

Crow's feet wrinkles

These wrinkles appear with age, drier, thinner skin, perhaps too much sun in your younger years? Soften the lateral eye area with a few painless injections of Botox® muscle relaxant.

Smoker's wrinkles

Several factors contribute to these wrinkles, such as dry, thinner skin, loss of volume with age, demineralization of facial bones. Botox® can help smooth the lip in combination with hyaluronic acid.

Lip Flip

Flipping or loosening of the upper lip. A more natural alternative for the appearance of your lip, but without volume enhancement. A few painless Botox® injections and an effect lasting 3 to 5 months.

F A Q

What is Botox?

Botox is a botulinum toxin produced by a small bacterium, which is then perfectly purified and marketed by pharmaceutical companies.

When the toxin is injected into a muscle, it reduces contraction for 4 to 5 months, after which the original contraction reappears. It is therefore essential to follow up every 4 to 5 months during treatment with these muscle relaxants.

Botox®, Xeomin®, Dysport® and Nuceiva® ?

In Canada, there are 4 botulinum toxins: Botox®, Xeomin®, Dysport® and Nuceiva®.

All these toxins have a similar effect – they are all type A botulinum toxins. In all humility, there is no such thing as bad treatment – only bad injectors.

Is the treatment painful and how long does it last?

It all depends on the concentration of the product prepared by the doctor. If the volumes injected are smaller, there is no pain, and the use of very small needles also means that the treatment is painless for most patients.

A treatment lasts from 10 to 20 minutes, and a few precautions need to be taken afterwards, i.e. no violent exercise for 24 hours after treatment, and no use of anti-inflammatories before and after treatment for 24 to 48 hours to avoid bruising.

What's the difference between dermal fillers and Botox?

Filling agents, such as hyaluronic acid injections, are used to add volume to certain areas of the face. They can fill in wrinkles and folds, increase lip volume or reshape certain facial features. Fillers are generally used to treat static lines and wrinkles, i.e. those that are present even when the facial muscles are at rest. They can also be used to restore volume lost through aging.

Botox, on the other hand, is a botulinum toxin that is injected into facial muscles to reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles, which form when muscles contract during facial expressions. Botox works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that cause muscle contraction, allowing the muscles to relax. This helps to reduce wrinkles and fine lines caused by repeated facial expressions, such as forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet and wrinkles between the eyebrows.

During the treatment, small amounts of Botox® are injected into specific facial muscles. The botulinum toxin acts by temporarily blocking nerve signals between the muscles and nerves, resulting in muscle relaxation. This reduces the appearance of dynamic wrinkles, such as forehead lines and crow’s feet.

Botox® is commonly used to treat forehead lines, crow’s feet around the eyes, and frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). It can also be used for other areas, such as the chin and neck, depending on individual needs.

Botox® injections are generally well tolerated by patients. The sensation can be described as a slight pinch or mild pressure. Some practitioners use techniques to minimize discomfort, such as the use of very fine needles.

The effects of Botox® typically last from 3 to 5 months. However, the duration can vary depending on the individual and the treated area. Follow-up sessions are necessary to maintain the results.

Common side effects of Botox® treatment are usually mild and temporary. They may include bruising, redness, mild headaches, or sensitivity in the treated area. Rare adverse effects can occur, so it is important to discuss potential risks with your practitioner.

Certain medical conditions, such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, neuromuscular disorders, or certain allergies, may contraindicate Botox® treatment. It is essential to discuss your medical history with your practitioner before undergoing the treatment.

The recovery time after Botox® treatment is generally short. Most people can resume their normal activities immediately after the injection. However, it is recommended to avoid massaging the treated area, engaging in strenuous exercises, and lying down for a few hours after the treatment.

Botox® is known to produce natural-looking results without a “fixed” effect when administered by a qualified practitioner. It is important to work with an experienced professional to achieve a balanced and tailored result to your needs.
